Although one of the most romantic and beautiful flowers, the meaning of the word "orchid" is "testicle" (orchid derived from the Greek ὄρχις-jorjis: "testicle" / ἰδέα: idéa "form", that is, "shaped like a testicle "), An etymology perhaps more bizarre than romantic that makes reference to the testicular form of the tubers of some of them like those of the genus Orchis.
