Classical Chinese Proverb

Hi everyone,

today I want to share with you one of my favorite Classical Chinese proverbs from one of my university lectures. I find it truly inspiring and I hope you will also like it.

It goes like this:

知命者不怨天,知己者不怨人。

知命者 → The one who understands his destiny
不怨天 → doesn‘t blame heaven (for it)

知己者 → The one who understands (truly) himself
不怨人 → doesn‘t blame other people

It means that you should‘t blame a 3rd party (no god, no people around you etc.) for your current state of life. Be hard working and take responsibility for your actions.

And if you understand yourself including your emotions, thoughts and way of living you won‘t have to blame others for their life because you know all the hardships and sorrows life is coming with from your own experience and understand why people are like that and behaving like that.

The problem is how you can start to understand yourself? One solution is meditation where you can focus on yourself and begin to analyse what it is what defines you as YOU.

Who is it who generates the footprints on the sand?

Have a nice weekend :)
