A(nother) quick introduction to Theroachmedia

Second time's the charm

After two years this still feels a little like de ja vu.  I started Steemit a little over two years ago under the username 'Roachmedia' and really enjoyed writing on the platform. After only a month I lost my cell phone on a vacation and with it my entire steemit account, because -- surprise, surprise -- I didn't back up my password.

After two years of checking my old wallet in frustration and putting off the hassel of creating a new account -- I finally am sitting in front of my laptop blogging on Steemit again and I couldn't be happier.

What's happened to me since the last time I was here

At the time I started my first steemit account I was in college for Radio/Television production and Broadcast Journalism (RTA). Since then I have graduated and worked at a radio station and local newspaper. Writing has always been a big part of my life and I couldn't be happier that occasionally I get paid to do it.

I'm currently living about a 20 minute car drive away from my childhood home in beautiful, boring Nova Scotia and writing here and there as I look for full-time work again. The reason I bring this up is because it's clearly a time in my life where I'm looking for my next path and I think Steemit is a great place to start.

A few ideas for my future work on Steemit

When you work for a company you rarely get to write about what you want -- when you want to. Steemit has a crazy large range of things to read about to I'll admit it's a little daunting to try and dive into a topic and write about it without the feeling of stepping on someone elses toes -- but I am going to do my damn best to put out original content from topics I care about.

Now, not everything I care about is important or serious or even useful -- but write what ya know, right? I am a huge television fan and I really believe we're living in the golden age of TV.

Personally, I only think TV is going to get bigger and better as studios start to dump more money into shows. I'd like to review a few things I currently enjoy on TV and a few older shows I think people will like. I also would like to make a few 'top 5' lists or things like that.

Another thing I'm passionate about as a Canadian is Marijuana.

Ganja, pot, bud or good old fashioned weed. In Canada it is finally legal and I can write about it without feeling like a criminal or being worried someone from work will read it and get the wrong idea.

Right now -- there are literally dozens of reputable MOMs (Mail order Marijuana) shops online that all have their own unique perks, discounts, products and sales. I would like to use my knowledge of the industry (from personal use) and help members of the Steemit community find deals like I do on quality legal weed, online.

Parting words of wisdom from a new user

Please for the love of god back-up your password on at least 2 or 3 different devices and hard copies. It will save you the trouble I went through.
