Aerogel

Fact!

Aerogel is a synthetic and ultra light material which comes from a gel. This gel has been removed with all the liquid components and replaced with gas. As a consequence we can get a solid with really low density and thermal conductivity. Aerogels are really good thermal insulators due to they are almost composed of gas and this one is very poor conducting heat. The material was created in 1931 by Samuel Stephens Kistler as a result of a bet. One of the best advantages of this amazing material is that it is super strong. It can hold an object weighing more than half a ton if it has the size of an average person: surprisingly weight of this material would be less than a pound as it is super light.
