Sunshine in its petals

Today I was delighted to see flowering in my garden, this stunning yellow flower, at the end of perhaps the most disliked plant in my garden. As you can see, it is a cactus type with piercing thorns all over the leaves.

I have since learnt that this plant is in fact the bearer of the prickly pear. A few months ago, I was starting to cut it away, piece by piece, but after today, I have decided to let it be as I now I am waiting to see further development in this plant.
