30 June 2026 @marinnewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 3150: I'm Going To Push The Button.
This is my post on #freewriters3150 #dailyprompt I'm going to push the red button hosted by @marinnewest's.
The Principal, Teacher Okon, and the Button
At Bright Future Secondary School, everyone respected Principal Adewale for his wisdom and fairness. One Monday morning, he called an urgent staff meeting and revealed a strange red button installed in the school hall.
“This button controls a special emergency system,” the principal explained. “But it must only be pushed when there is a serious need.”
Teacher Okon, the school’s science teacher, became curious. He examined the device carefully and asked, “Sir, what happens if someone pushes it by mistake?”
The principal smiled and replied, “The school will know immediately. That is why we must be responsible.”
Later that day, heavy rain started falling, and the school compound began to flood. The students became frightened as water entered some classrooms. Teacher Okon noticed that the emergency alarm had not been activated. He rushed to the hall and saw the red button.
“I’m going to push the button,” Teacher Okon said firmly.
Some teachers tried to stop him because they were afraid of the unknown consequences. However, Teacher Okon remembered that the safety of the students was more important. He pressed the button.
Immediately, a loud alarm sounded, and the school’s emergency team arrived. They helped move students to a safe place and controlled the situation.
Principal Adewale praised Teacher Okon for his courage and quick thinking. He told everyone that knowledge and bravery were powerful tools.
From that day, the red button was no longer seen as something frightening but as a symbol of responsibility and teamwork.
