WEEK 234; LIGHTS ON/OFF

Do you like the light on during sex or the light off? Explain. Use your own photos.

For me, keeping the lights on during intimacy feels like an invitation to connect beyond a physical level. It is at that moment I feel really seen by both my partner and myself. Most people may prefer the dark but for me, the light, in this sense, isn’t something to hide behind or shy away from, if anything it makes the experience more tangible and meaningful for both my partner and I.

When the lights are on, I can see my partner’s eyes, their small expressions, the movement of their body, their reaction to every touch. It’s a kind of closeness that deepens the emotional bond, it intensifies the whole experience, simply the vulnerability of letting someone truly see you — flaws, imperfections and everything in between, because in that moment we simply appreciate each other’s humanity in its most intimate form without any form of judgement.

To be able to hold my partner’s eyes in mine brings me even closer to them, like communicating without words, we use our bodies to express ourselves in a way our mouths can’t. I enjoy sharing that vulnerability with them, to feel like we are both fully present in the moment without hiding anything.

Ultimately, the lights on experience feel more wholesome. They remind me that intimacy isn’t just about pleasure but about connection—being seen and accepted for exactly who I am, right in that moment.
