Mars north pole sandstorm 🌪 - April 2018

More dust on Mars!

This time it is not about the current storm of global scale (check out my previous posts for that one), but about a local one, from April this year which has been active near the north pole cap. The cap on this picture is not really visible, but it should be close to it.

The picture was taken by the ESA's Mars Express spacecraft, which has been around the Red Planet since 2003. In the right half of the image, besides the dense clouds of bright dust moving across terrain, you can also see the scale: the white line is 20 kilometers long!
The sandstorm was located and confined to the north pole as seen in this picture also taken by the ESA Mars Express spacecraft:

For more absolutely mindblowing pictures I suggest everyone to check the aforementioned ESA Mars Express spacecraft page.

Have a great day :)
