The Information Fast: Curing Digital Overconsumption

The amount of information we process daily is far greater than what a person used to get in their lifetime in the 17th century. Today we constantly receive news alerts and social network updates that fill our minds with noise. We wrongly assume that this constant flow of information makes us wise, while, in fact, excessive consumption hampers our mental performance.

Google

When your brain is full of comments made by others, there is no space for new ideas and original thoughts.

Limiting your access to information is very important for saving some mental energy:

Filter for signal instead of noise. Unsubscribe from all information that does not help you.

Try to create something before getting information. Use your morning energy for doing some creative work and only then let other people's information into your head.
