Fuck FIFA, fuck US politician(s) that destroy football
Es geht mir dermassen auf den Sack, und ich bin ein ruhiger Zeitgenoss - aber was bei der roten Karte US Player abgeht und die Einmischung Trump, das Arschbücken Infantino angeht und die offensichtlcuhe Korruption im Fussball angeht - so bin ich überraxht, nicht dass man Spiele manipuliert, korruption im Sport (weil da ist aj Geld drin) - aber so offensochtölich auf der SWeltbühne ist schon hart - und es passiert nichts - jede Nation regt sich auf, man reicht Sachen ein, FIFA lehnt ab - Trunp fühlt sich als Retter der Nation, aLER, das ist das heftigste was ich aseit langem gesehen habe!
Bin sprachlos - Top Fussballnationen akzeptieren wirklich alles?
Korruption in USA - ahnungslose US Idioten, Schwanzlutscher wie im FIFA Vorstand? Ich höre halbseidene Aussagen vom DFB (größter Fussballverband der Welt) man protestiere, andere ähnlich - Weicheier - keiner macht was dagegen. Fussball wird zerstört von geldgeilen, ahnungslosen Ärschen - die nicht mal eine Regel des Spiels kennen? Und Deutschland "protestiert energisch" lol.
Ok, wenig erwartet, hätte aber auch von anderen Nationen mehr Revolution erwartet gegen den direkten Eingriff von Trump in die Königs WM - aber gut - jeder will sein Schäfchen trocken halten. Klar auch die Teams die noch im Wettbewerb sind, aber ist traurig - hätte gehofft UK zeigt Eier.
When politics enters football, everyone loses
First of all, no offense to my American friends. This post is not about ordinary Americans, and it is certainly not about insulting an entire country. It is about politics entering football and the damage that does to the credibility of the sport.
I have followed football for most of my life. I have seen controversial refereeing decisions, corruption scandals, match-fixing allegations and countless debates about VAR, penalties and red cards. None of that is new. Football has always had its problems because there is simply too much money involved.
What really shocked me this week was something different.
A player receives a red card during the biggest football tournament on the planet. The President of the host nation publicly confirms that he spoke with FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the case. Shortly afterwards, the automatic suspension is lifted and the player is allowed to participate in the next match.
Whether that phone call actually influenced FIFA's decision is something none of us can prove. But that is no longer the most important question. The damage is already done because millions of football fans around the world now wonder whether political influence has become part of football's decision-making process.
That perception alone hurts the game.
Belgium protested. UEFA criticized the decision in unusually strong terms. Fans from many different countries questioned what had happened. FIFA defended its position and moved on as if nothing extraordinary had happened.
Maybe everything was legally correct according to FIFA's regulations. That is not really my point. Sport does not only depend on legal arguments. It also depends on trust, fairness and the belief that the same rules apply to everyone.
Once fans start believing that the outcome of disciplinary decisions may depend on political influence or personal relationships, football loses something far more valuable than a single match.
I am equally disappointed by many football associations. There have been statements, interviews and formal complaints, but very little real resistance. Perhaps everyone is afraid of challenging FIFA because there is simply too much at stake.
For me, this is one of the most disturbing moments I have witnessed in modern football. Not because of one red card, but because of the message it sends.
Football should be decided by the players on the pitch, not by politicians, powerful phone calls or the impression that some nations play under different rules than others.

It's terrible. It makes me hope that USA lose against Belgium although I really like the team.
I really thought things would get better after Blatter was replaced, but then we had the WC in Qatar the with the violation of human rights. Then the commercialization with the increased amount of teams and 'water breaks' and now direct influence of politicians.
It really makes me angry! I think all football fans think this way, but what can we do about it?

Even Blatter was saying it is shit - and Infantino is his baby :-). No offense against the US team, they play a great tournament - they might not need that but if they win by a penalty or goal by him it falls against them
when fans start asking 'who called whom?' instead of 'was it a foul?', the magic of the game evaporates

Well it didn't help the USA in the end. Sport ought to avoid politics, but when there is so much money involved corruption is inevitable. How did that peace prize work out?
He definitely doesn't understand anything about football or the rules of the game, and probably don't even understand, as I'm not sure they've hosted the WC recently. It's a pity because politics should never interfere with the game.

apart from he does not understand - it is about power only and the pity everyone incl politicians nowadays froma broad just try to be be nice and do what he expects - when I see national German TV they publish interview with our chancellor where he says we double spending on military stuff - think Trump was vocal about US herlps NATO countries but they not not fulfill what they should and news reporter then say, hopefully this will be accepted by Trump - WTF? Are we now the ones that take political strategig action to please a foreign politician only?
The world is done or maybe Germany at least - that is all totally fucked up.
