ICO

1. Initial Coin Offering

   • The means of which project teams recruit funds during coin-development period
   • Investors view: Investment method in buying coins before listed on the exchange server

2. IPO

   • Initial Public Offering
   • Unlisted companies sell their shares to unspecified number of investors to be listed on the secure market or the KOSDAQ market, for legal procedures and methods to disclose their financial statements.

3. Free Sale

   • Pre-sales method before ICO precedes
   • The conditions are better than general ICO, but the risks are higher.

4. Private Sale

   • A pre-sale that is conducted only for a specific group (agency, company, acquaintance, pre-registrant etc)
   • The recruitment is high, and the exposure is very low, which individual investors have trouble participating.

5. Public Sale

   • Same definition as general ICO or Cloud Sales
   • A pre-sale method that proceed to an unspecified number of people(majority)

6. Cloud Sale

   • Same definition as general ICO or Public Sales
   • A pre-sale method that proceed to an unspecified number of people(majority)

7. Scam

   • An another meaning for “fraud”

8. Coin

   • A cryptocurrency that operate on a proprietary blockchain (e.g. OmiseGo, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Stellar, ADA, Neo, Qtum)

9. Token

   • A cryptocurrency that operates in DAPP or smart-contract structure, on top of other platform coins without a unique blockchain. (e.g. Status, Augur, Factom, Golem, Edgeless)

ICO Related

1. Whitelist

   • List of ICO/pre-sale investors that proceed and participate in project- team
   • There is intense competition for popular projects, and ICO that does not work without Whitelist registration needs to be more careful before participating.

2. Whitepaper

   • A document describing everything starting from A to Z for each project (Concept, team, roadmap, solution, problem etc.)
   • Stronger the whitepaper is, higher reliability in investment
   • Projects with poor or no whitepaper does not get invested.

3. KYC

   • Know your Customers
   • Information on the nationality of the investor and the amount of investment, required from the project team.
   • Generally use passport for identification

4. Tier

   • “rank,” “grade”
   • For some of specific ICO, investor ratings may be divided to distinguish the discount rate or individual investment

5. Referral

   • Recommending system
   • Some of ICOs provide Referral code or Referral link to investors as marketing means, and investors receive additional discounts or coins/tokens, depending on the investors who have come through Code or Link.

6. Bounty

   • “Reward”
   • Some of ICOs implement the Bounty scheme for promotional purposes and offer bounties for investors who meet specific conditions. (e.g. promoting the ICO through SNS and make a high publicity effect)

7. Cap

   • “recruitment” or “investment capability”

8. Soft Cap

   • The minimum amount to be recruited for project development
   • When the soft cap is not reached, the refund procedure progresses

9. Hard Cap

   • Maximum recruitment
   • When hard cap is reached, ICO shuts down.

10. Personal Cap

    • The maximum about each individual can invest in ICO

11. Minimal Cap

    • The minimum amount each individual must invest to participate in ICO

12. MEW

    • My Ether Wallet
    • Representative Ethereum Wallet

13. Gas

    • The fee used to transfer Ethereum

14. Gas Limit

    • The maximum limit of gas used for Ethereum transmission
    • Gas limit can be established by an individual, usually set to 21,000

ICO afterward

1. Pending

   • State of unfinished engagement
   • Occurs mainly in the remittance state, and the state of waiting for full remittance

2. Lock up

   • Transmission restrictions
   • For some of ICOs, some or all of the tokens are locked up for specific period of time to control the amount of tokens released to the market

3. Distribution

   • Distribute as many tokens as the investor has contributed
   • Some of ICOs pay tokens immediately after the transfer, and some of ICOs announce the specific time after the ICO termination and proceed with the distribution.

4. Exchange

   • Exchange server is mainly used as ICO

5. Transferable

   • “Moveable”
   • For some of ICOs, the token movement is bound for a certain period after a token has been paid for several reasons. After Transferable, personal wallet, exchange server, and other token are free to move.
   • For some ICOs, after a token has been paid, the token movement is bound for a certain period for several reasons. After TRANSFERABLE, personal tokens, exchanges, and other tokens are free to move.

6. Add Custom Token

   • “Adding tokens” to make the tokens visible on the wallet (MEW)
   • As of March 26, there are 57,384 ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. All tokens are “hidden” because there are too many tokens that are visible. Releasing this “hidden” state is called “add custom token.”

    • After the main-net has its own wallet, “token -> coins” conversion is done.
