Hello Hive Open Mic community, it’s @wealthwess here, excited to step into Week 295 of this wonderful musical journey. This week’s theme, A Different World, inspired me to perform a soulful cover of If I Were a Boy by Beyoncé.

I chose If I Were a Boy because the song invites us to imagine life from another angle, another experience, another reality, another world entirely. It’s a powerful reminder of how perspective can shift everything; how we love, how we listen, how we treat one another, and how we understand the feelings we often overlook. The song paints a picture of stepping into someone else’s shoes, seeing beyond ourselves, and realizing the unspoken truths that exist on the other side.

The theme A Different World speaks to that idea beautifully. It challenges us to look past our comfort zones, to embrace empathy, to imagine how life feels from the viewpoints we don’t always consider. It’s about understanding that the world looks different depending on where you stand, and music helps us travel into those unseen spaces.

For my entry this week, I channeled that spirit of perspective into every line of If I Were a Boy, the vulnerability, the honesty, and the emotional shift that comes from viewing life through someone else’s eyes. I hope you can feel that journey, that reflection, and that softened understanding woven into the performance.
