Introducing the WINE Token to the Hive Community

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Best wishes and strength to you & your loved ones. We’re here to share gifts and a delicious new token with you! It’s called WINE!!

What is WINE?

WINE is a brand-new community engagement & social rewarding token on top of the Hive Blockchain, issued on the Hive-Engine sidechain and named after the drink which led to cultural expression, innovation and prosperity. Not to forget memorable moments, genius ideas + one or two embarrassing but fun talks and hangovers eventually ^^

But that’s all part of the game, isn’t it?!

WINE is dedicated to serve you and the people on Hive you appreciate - as a (digital) drink, currency, as a utility token, a comment rewarder; as a way to “break the ice” with new people you interact with on the various dApps, as an invitation for a little chit chat and motivator for others to join the conversation, as a passive income generator and post promoter, as a ranking measure of your content discovery efforts or even a store of value if you believe in its (future) potential.

It’s whatever you make out of it - apart from what already is: the coolest & newest token on Hive! (no financial advice!)

As some of you might have already realized there’s a similarity to a well known and established token project on Hive. We’re talking about our beloved BEER whose name was the inspiration when creating WINE. But we’re not simply a clone or fork of what you already know. That’d be cheap and tasteless, wouldn’t it!?

We’re not here to compete for the crown which is the most drinkable beverage, the most liquid token or who has the best community on Hive, but to offer you a variety of hand picked selections and invite you to become part of the brand-new community & curation guild that is about to form one sip at a time - together with YOU!

By getting involved that early on you can actually have a say which direction the project takes after the ICO took place - which is about to happen in Q1 2021. We’re open to team up with likeminded people who wanna help Hive to thrive and boost the interaction on chain.

We serve you full-bodied treasures filled in rare bottles and shared one glass at a time. We’ve equipped WINE with a strong & sustainable tokenomics model which starts out with 0 supply and an initial “Fractional Engagement Minting Instance” (*FEMI) through which you can “mine” newly issued WINE tokens simply by engaging with other users in the way of commenting on their posts & comments using commands supported by the @wine.bot (you’ll find the full list below!). There’ll also be an initial manual minting instance for the ICO - the one & only ever - which serves as fundraiser for future development, community building campaigns and to establish a buy wall which can’t be teared down thanks to the token’s scarcity. 100% of the collected funds will be reinvested in our ever evolving token ecosystem.

Why WINE?


We think that there’s a lot of undervalued content on the Hive Blockchain which deserves more attention and social interaction, not to forget higher payouts. With WINE we want to reward and gamify content discovery on Hive, make it fun, support promising content creators and their work, help them grow their following, their Hive Power and token rewards.


How do I get WINE?


You can earn some WINE when our curators find your post and call the @wine.bot to reward you for creating good and undervalued content on Hive. If you don’t want to wait for them to go and find it, join our Discord server, say hello to the community and post your link into our post promotion channel after you have agreed to our short but golden ethic codex of #nospam #noplagiarization #respect #fairness and #engagement. Another way is to use the #fine or #wine hashtags which we continuously check for fresh and interesting posts.

If you are short on tokens, but not on time you can write a little essay on why you are a good fit as a WINE curator and publish it here or on our Discord server. Ideally you have already been involved in other Hive curation projects or you have everything it takes to become one.

How does it work?

  1. earn or buy at least 25 WINE to get started

  2. stake it

  3. find a post or comment that you like & wish to support

  4. call the bot by writing a comment including one of the following commands: !wine wine!WINEwine !WINEWINE

  5. check back 10 seconds later when the @wine.bot appears to invite the post author in your name to a glass of wine (0.1 WINE for the creator, 0.1 WINE for you if you are a WINE redfish - which represents level 1)


How many levels are there?

If you are familiar with the vested Hive Power ranks then this is an easy catch for you..

Level 1: Redfish 25 WINE staked

Level 2: Minnow 75 WINE staked

Level 3: Dolphin 225 WINE staked

Level 4: Orca 675 WINE staked

Level 5: Whale 2025 WINE staked

What’s the point in leveling up?


The higher your WINE staking level actually is the more successful WINE calls you can make per day. Also the WINE rewards you both share doubles with each level. Fun one. FINE WINE!

Level 1: 1 call per day Author reward: 0.1 WINE Curator reward: 0.1 WINE

Level 2: 2 calls per day Author reward: 0.2 WINE Curator reward: 0.2 WINE

Level 3: 3 calls per day Author reward: 0.3 WINE Curator reward: 0.3 WINE

Level 4: 4 calls per day Author reward: 0.4 WINE Curator reward: 0.4 WINE

Level 5: 5 calls per day Author reward: 0.5 WINE Curator reward: 0.5 WINE

So the maximum you can earn daily as a WINE staker with a single account is 1.5 WINE (0.1 + 0.2 + 0.3 + 0.4 + 0.5 = 1.5) through active curation if you curate 5 posts using the @wine.bot commands !wine wine!WINEwine !WINEWINE

The “bot call counter” resets every 24h at 0:00 UTC.

There’s no cap in WINE author rewards or tips, so theoretically you could become a whale in a day (although it’s more likely that Elon Musk or Bitcoin goes to Mars before ;) .. but it’s always good to reach for the stars.

To support community growth and token sustainability additional 0.05 WINE are being issued with every successful call. 0.03 goes to the @imagenius.dev account for future development, token burn buyback initiatives, bounties & other incentives. The remaining 0.02 WINE will be burnt & sent to @null straight away, so that the total circulating supply decreases over time to create extra scarcity, increase buying pressure and engage token holders and stakers to #hodl. More incentives will be rolled out over time.

If all allocated tokens of an open ICO phase are sold, the next ICO phase begins automatically, even if the next quarter hasn’t started. At the end of each round all unsold remaining tokens will be sent to @null to support a deflationary token model approach.

There can only ever be 96.3 million WINE tokens in existence, which isn't even enough to make 400 million successful @wine.bot without running dry. The more tokens are burnt, bought &/ staked the scarcer they become. So eventually it’s enough to last until the year 2072 - if 1000 level 2 stakers call the bot 5 times a day and only if one doesn’t factor in the powerful token burn mechanism and additional token use cases which will be added in the future and creates extra market buying pressure. Once the whole world uses the Hive blockchain it no longer serves as an engagement reward token, but might have grown to an impactful tipping token or functions as a store of value - or whatever you imagine it to be one day.

But back to the here & now..

  1. To reward early users for their participation & engagement with free WINE we’ve removed the staking requirements until New Year’s 2021 (01/01/2021, 0:00 UTC)

It helps you to reach the 1st WINE curator level more easily (25 WINE for 1 daily call) and gives you a brighter insight of how the engagement & distribution system works. The more you “mine” through your early engagement before the initial minting happens the less tokens you have to collect or buy from others. There’s no cap on daily author rewards. So if you find people who like to share (more than just) a drink with you and engage with other WINE users & curators you increase your chances of loading your wine shelf quicker than the rest.

What are the future plans & the outlooks on 2021?

2021 is gonna be a promising & important year for WINE & Hive. It’s definitely worth it to stay tuned since we’ve decided to make a soft rollout of the project to be able to scale better and adapt the project according to your needs. That’s why we don’t leak too much information before the lightpaper & whitepaper will be released - which is the case during Q1 of 2021 before the ICO will take place. We invite & encourage you to become part of the natural growth & success of the WINE project and help to shape it in a way that it serves you and others in the best way possible.


How can I support the project?


The easiest way is to upvote the comments of the @wine.bot, same as the posts of @wine-token since it’ll help grow the account’s reputation & Hive Power. All the author & curation rewards will be 100% reinvested in community building, project growth and will be dedicated to bounty pools, marketing campaigns and token buyback & burn programs.
