Shortened URLs

Nobody likes to look at a link posted online that's hundreds of characters long with all sorts of strange symbols in it. It takes up way too much room. If you do post an outside link on social media, the general trend is to use a link shortener like Bitly. Lots of businesses are starting to brand their own shortened URLs too. For About.com, all links shortened with Bitly default to abt.cm.
