I've been harping on this since I joined. Community building through commenting on articles you enjoy is the easiest way to get rewarded. The Whales are reading the comments and you will be surprised how many times you will be rewarded for interacting with other users in the comment threads. It can be argued that commenting is just as important as creating content.

I agree, I see it as just another facet of curating. From my early observations, it can be just as lucrative to have a great comment on a great article. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

Yeh, this was good. I joined because I wanted a decentralized Facebook, the currency aspect is just a small plus and a good management process.

I actually heard about it through a Yahoo Finance article, and immediately thought all my money troubles were over. Like my post says though, I joined for the money and stayed for the people :) I'll try to give your article a read later, I'm packing at the moment

This is my first day, so still experimenting, but this rings true for me. The payouts seemed too high to be sustainable but I think I was just seeing the most popular ones which are not representative of the whole.

Yep high payouts are rare, even those who get high payouts often have articles that go mostly unseen. It's all part of the process, just have to learn to make it enjoyable regardless. Thanks for your input :)

Although on a personal level I didn't join Steemit to "get rich quick." I love what you said in your post and gave you an upvote.

What excited me about Steemit is getting at least some reward for work created as a content creator. Over the years it seems creators and writers have been expected to accept that we don't deserve to be rewarded for our work, time and efforts. I truly hope Steemit is the game changer in this regards.

Perhaps it is worth looking after philosophy of SteemPower and weight of a vote? The weight of vote of 1 account has to be always equal to 1 dollar. But each subsequent vote reduces vote cost. So 100% of Voting power = $1, 80$0,8 and so on. Speed of restoration from 0 to 1 depends on quantity of STEEM POWER — 10 steem power restore, voice weight completely in 1 week, 1.000.000 steem power in 10 seconds. It would bring much more balance in long-term prospect. Also would solve a problem, whales, dolphins and gudgeons.

I don't think this would be a good idea because it would result in mass inflation. Right now, the power lies with a few but regardless the same final amount currency is distributed on a daily basis. Even small votes count still - it's just not worth much. And why should it? Your vote will be worth more once you prove your content - i.e. Get votes from whales. But as the article states, this won't happen for everyone, which is fine. Thanks for the input though! :)

It is worth noting that 24,000 accounts have less than $10 in their accounts. You consider such distribution fair? 2 500 000 people with balance of the account as yours will be required to give to the author of$500.

I appreciate that you've got such a strong interest in this topic. Like I said, I don't think the money distribution is any problem at the moment. Another thing to consider is money allocation in the real world which is just as lopsided. Again, thanks for offering your perspective :)

Gladly, steemit was not advertised to me as "go there make noney blogging" but as "here go read the whitepaper decentralised network blockchain facebook reddit" (in /r/conspiracy).

I was a bit surprised at the unrealistically high payouts on the trending page, but still did not expect to receive much myself after lurking for a few days before introducing myself a minute before the hack shut down Steemit.

Some feel much betrayed, and rightfully so, because they were given a promise Steem never made and can't possibly keep and this is making a lot of noise atm.

We should not be partying hard because $$$!!!, but because this community is awesome, the code open source, the blockchain uncensorable and the mods nonexistent. Freezed Peaches!
