BitShares VS Steemit!

Steem
Steem has the advantage of being a social media platform that produces high value content that automatically draws in users and investors even from beyond the cryptocurrency space. This has caused a viral effect for Steemit, reflected in the website being ranked < #10000 globally.

BitShares
BitShares has the advantage of being a decentralized exchange that allows for trading of many different assets, enabling it to compete with major financial institutions and take on trillion-dollar markets like the derivatives-market. This is reflected in assets like bitUSD/bitGOLD that exist as genuine cryptocurrencies while tracking the respective values of USD/gold.

Conclusion
Both Steem and BitShares are good candidates for being billion dollar blockchains for different reasons. Their underlying technologies will allow them to scale to a global level, and they are backed by a pioneering and growing Graphene community of visionaries, developers, and entrepreneurs.

Steem has a great platform that is growing constantly, a fantastic user base, plus I don't know anything about bitshares ;)

I really hope that steemit makes it to the $10 a unit that, that Jerry Banfield weirdo was purporting. Man that guy is annoying as heck, but hopefully it pays off.

steem has better tech as far as I know and since it has social media users which are more than exchange users, has more potential to grow.

I don't fully understand bitshares. But I really need to look into it, and maybe buy some or get involved. I have missed out on too many crypto opportunities and I cannot afford to miss out on anymore :(

I'm not sure who will take the lead here. I am more familiar with steemit due to being here.
As I see, Steemit community and developers are extremelly active with moving platform forward, and that is what makes me feel really great about a future of Steemit. I dont know much however about BitShares, however inovating one and flexible one is for me a possible winner of a run. However something completelly else may show up and win the race. We can not know, I just see what is happening now :)
Six months ago Steemit was number 10000 and now it is number 2000 on Alexa ranks si the progress is evident ! What about APPICS ? What do you think about it ?
I think steem has something apart from its technology that makes it my choice : it"s content base .
